When the new Vail K-12 Academy opened in July 2010, the school children were greeted with an interactive musical playground where they could explore their musical talent by creating various notes on the large scale sculpture.
Steel-A-Phone (top-left)- Two mallets are used to strike various tones on the vertical tubes.
Tune Tubes (top-center)- Internal chimes create musical notes when the larger pipes are agitated.
Singing Sticks (top-right)- Four vertical tubes, of varying diameter, strike their respective horizontal pipes when pivoted back and forth, creating multiple notes.
